As a Chicagoan, I'm a little nerdy about good public transit. While things have gone a bit downhill in the Windy City as far as on-time service is concerned, I have a keen appreciation for good public transit when I see it. When staying in Bergen, I knew I wanted to see at least one stave church. To do so? I needed to venture on public transit.

Bergen, Norway's charming coastal city, offers more than just stunning fjord views and colorful wooden houses. During my recent mother-daughter trip to this UNESCO World Heritage city, we discovered some incredible dining gems that transformed our culinary expectations. From authentic Greek flavors to exceptional Italian cuisine, Bergen's restaurant scene surprised us at every turn.

My mom and I are notorious for slow travel. We spent six nights in the "Gateway to the Fjords", also known as Bergen. That said, we knew we wanted to at least spend one day deep in the fjords.
